3U CompactPCI® board uses low power Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 family

Concurrent Technologies announces the latest addition to their 3U CompactPCI® product range: the TP D2x/msd Single Board Computer, based on the Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 product family. Available with either a single core or quad core processor, the TP D2x/msd is a low power processor board, with the single-core variant typically consuming 10W. With a wide range of I/O features, and available in commercial (0°-70° degrees Centigrade), extended temperature and ruggedized variants, and supporting fanless operation, the board will appeal to a range of applications within markets including defence, industrial, scientific, and transportation.

The Intel® Atom™ processor E3800 product family includes single and multicore options, and is specifically targeted to offer excellent performance/watt, while supporting Intel® Gen 7 graphics and ECC support for data integrity.

The TP D2x/msd features the 4-core 1.91 GHz (10W) Intel® Atom™ processor E3845 or the 1-core 1.46 GHz (5W) Intel® Atom™ processor E3815, with 4Gbytes of DDR3L ECC DRAM. Standard single slot features include graphics, SATA 300 interfaces including support for on board 2.5-inch mass storage drive, serial, USB and Ethernet interfaces, as well as an option for stereo audio and High Speed CANbus. Additional features can be added via the board’s optional second slot modules which provide a PMC/XMC site and/or mass storage options.

Further optional features include Built-in Test (BIT) and a board level security package which provides a means to enhance the security of equipment to prevent access to sensitive data and key Intellectual Property.

To ease integration, a range of industry standard Operating Systems (Windows®, Linux® and VxWorks® ) are supported and alternatively a Fast Boot solution based on the Intel® Firmware Support Package (Intel® FSP) is available.

“The TP D2x/msd is a welcome addition to our 3U CompactPCI product line, and will appeal to new and existing customers requiring a versatile low power processor board”, commented Glen Fawcett, CEO, Concurrent Technologies. “The Intel® E3800 Atom™ family enables us to support multi-core options, EEC memory, improved graphics and additional security and fast boot options – features which are key to many applications within the embedded markets that we serve”.

The TP D2x/msd processor board is released as a commercial air-cooled or fanless board and ruggedized variants will follow.
